Xtown SnoCross Xtreme!!
THE ASSIGMENT: SHOOT THE EVENT WITHOUT GETTING KILLED
Last weekend I casually set out to shoot a Snow-Cross competition here in Montreal. I put on all my heavy and warm snow gear thinking I was set and drove out for my two day assignment in the frigid cold Canadian weather. The venue for the extreme sporting event had minimal security as it was in a field at the X-Town grounds in Mirabel just outside Montreal, my photo-pass was a ticket with a capital M (to indicate MEDIA) written in black felt marker on the front of a regular admission ticket. That should have been my first clue that no one would at any point tell me where or when I could stand at a given point on the Snow-Cross track. Meaning freedom to shoot from anywhere I was brave enough to stand. I quickly realized after my first near Ski-Doo beheading that I was completely taken off guard and seriously in over my head figuratively and literally speaking.
